Two Sino-Tibetan silk brocade dragons
Tibet, 18th/19th century
These two pieces of brocade were probably specially designed as a front for a pillowcase. The designs and colour were exclusively made for high ranking people. Both textiles are decorated with water spitting dragons floating above turbulent water with a fish jumping towards the dragon, from the mouth of the fish come the clouds which surround the dragon.
