Klombeck was the best pupil of Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803-1862), who became known as the ‘prince of landscape painting’. Klombeck painted summer and winter landscapes, as well as forest views, in which he shows the strong influence of his famous teacher. This summer landscapes shows many similarities with Koekkoek’s work; both in composition and atmosphere.
