Artist Benno Wissing came into contact with Laurens van Kuik via his friend and en colleague Jan Begeer (1921) and his father, art critic Piet Begeer (1890-1975). Piet Begeer was a great admirer of this artist and wrote the introduction for the retrospective Laurens van Kuik in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1958.
