The talented artist Lambertus van der Groen was born in The Hague, where he became a pupil at the Royal Academy of Art from 1818 to 1819. Compare the present lot with works by contemporary artists, such as J.H. Verheijen (1778-1846) and B.J. van Hove (1790-1880). Van der Groen’s oeuvre is rarely seen on the art market.
