In late 1950 Karel Appel and Hugo Claus, when both where living in Paris, produced a set of 7 illustrated poems. This set was published in the so-called ‘Hand-series’ of the Cobra-library, titled ‘De blijde en onvoorziene week’ (The happy and unforeseen week). These prints were subsequently hand-coloured by Karel Appel. The booklet could at the time be pre-ordered for only three guilders. Unfortunately there were only three subscribers in total, while the total edition comprised 200 copies.
