Johannes Evert Akkeringa made a name for himself with his cheerful Dutch scenes. He depicted tranquil working women and playing children in a cozy, domestic setting. Akkeringa is therefore also called ‘painter of the carefree life’. Work of the artist is included in the collection of the Frans Halsmuseum in Haarlem, the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.
