Note:
This work was gifted by the artist to Cornelis Johannes de Jong (1869-1955), former managing director of Douwe Egberts. According to the accompanying letter, Sluijters sent him this watercolour in 1945 after visiting Friesland and the village of Deinum. Both were befriended for many years. In 1930 Sluijters had already portayed De Jong; this portrait became part of the Sara Lee Corporation collection after they acquired Douwe Eberts in 1978, and is now part of the collection of Museum Joure.
