Note:
Henriette Herminie Louise Gudin, a French painter and daughter of renowned maritime artist Théodore Gudin, specialised in seascapes and coastal views. She gained recognition for her work exhibited at the Paris Salon, excelling in a field usually dominated by men. Her paintings, known for their depiction of light and water, significantly enriched French marine art. In 1850, she married Étienne François Fauchier but continued to sign her paintings with her birth name until circa 1864, when she began to use the name ‘Mme Fauchier’ on her work. Today, her works are still appreciated and featured in various collections and museums, such as the Calvet Museum in Avignon.
