208. Eugène Grasset

Eugène Grasset
(Lausanne 1845 – Paris 1917)
La Vitrioleuse (1894)
Signed and numbered 31 l.r.
Edition of 100
Colour lithograph, 39.9 x 27.7 cm (image size) / 53.8 x 37.7 cm (paper size)
N.B.:
Grasset worked as a graphic designer in Paris during the Belle Epoque and is considered a pioneer of the Art Nouveau. This work, despite the rather bizarre subject of a sulfuric acid thrower – is a fine example of Japonism in his oeuvre.
