Note:
“I aim for whatever moves me emotionally. I think women are beautiful, women are my subject. When I was younger I already collected pictures of women, album covers, internet, magazines. My girlfriends read Vogue, Cosmopolitan. If I get the chance I flick through their magazines. The colours of creams, of lingerie, of make-up, those are the colours on my palette. (…) I paint for the same reason a woman puts on her make-up, which she does carefully on a daily basis. I paint carefully on a daily basis. Erotic minimalism. The form, the expression, the posture, the tone, thick paints, transparent layers and the stroke of the brush. The last manipulation, that’s what it comes down to. When I finally see my model on the canvas I have done everything I can.” – Emilio Kruithof
