Foreign, late 18th century, signed I M S, assay marks V in crowned shield and flowered letter V
Oval and smooth, with edging. On the mother-of-pearl lid a carved scene of a Roman general entering a city. The inside with engraved scene of a dying Adonis in the arms of Venus. On her upper left arm the signature: I M S.
