An Elephant
Tibet, 15th century
An elephant with his trunk curled around his leg, on his trunk and his back he is adorned with flaming jewels. This is one of the symbols of Tibetan Buddhism.
Fire gilt copper repoussé with traces of black and red pigments. The details are chased in relief. The elephant is the mount of Buddha Aksobhya, the blue Buddha. Mounted.
