A neckrest and an apron
South Africa, Swaziland and Ndebele
The wooden neckrest has traces of pigments.
The leather apron, Pepetu, is decorated with glass beads. When a Ndebele girl has completed her period of seclusion during her initiation she receives a Pepetu apron. In most cases these aprons are made by their mother. They are worn in combination with a Thimba, back skirt.
