A Lopburi-style sandstone Buddha Muchalinda
Thailand, 13th century
Seated in virasana posture on the snake who’s seven heads formerly formed a canopy above the Buddha. Both hands in the meditation posture on the lap. Dressed in a samghati with bared right shoulder. The face with serene expression and almond shaped eyes under jagged eyebrows, wide nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes and the hair in the ushnisha and covered with lotus flower petals. Perspex stand.
