Early Edo period, 17th/18th century
With imaginary portraits of the 100 poets hyaku-nin isshu, all poets depicted seated and surrounded by an inscription in black ink on paper with gold specks, the faces gofun (white pigment), the costume rendered in brocade. Cover page and back in Tosa-style with a landscape over two pages of spring and autumn. Cover with seven rows of stylised flowers on a striped ground. In container with a pattern of overlapping fans.
