After the painting ‘Bonaparte visitant les pestiférés de Jaffe’ by Antoine-Jean Gros dating from 1804 in the Louvre. The upper side with a putto head. The underside with a lion’s mask with trophies.

Gros painted this work in connection with Napoleon’s heroic visit to his plague stricken troops in Jaffa, during the Egyptian campaign.
