A Gau, an amulet box
Tibet, 19th century
This is an exceptionally beautiful Gau. The front decorated in repoussé silver with chased details and fire gilt copper ornaments inlaid with turquoise. In the window a small Tsagli painting of the goddess Lhamo on her mule. The sides and lid of the box are all in copper. Approx. weight 1090.2 grams.
