A roof ornament in the form of a dragon
North Thailand, Laos, 18th century
Dragons such as these were traditionally fixed on all four corners of a temple roof and were decorated with gold and mirrors, due to the ravages of time this washed wood exterior has remained. The dragons functioned as guardians of the tempel complex.
