In this work the two painters competed for talent and together created a remarkable symphony of colours. De Vogel treated the trees with great virtuosity and Verboeckhoven, even in his own works, rarely depicted the animals with so great a precision. Compared to other works by Verboeckhoven the staffage is of excellent quality, as can be seen in the form, colour and details of the white cow.
