Cor Noltee was a distinguished Dutch impressionist painter, born in The Hague. He travelled extensively, living and working in Paris, Rotterdam, and Bruges before settling in Dordrecht in 1937. Noltee’s vibrant use of colour and light, combined with his robust and confident style, earned him the nickname ‘Dordrecht Breitner.’ He preferred painting landscapes, cityscapes, and river scenes, capturing the essence of his surroundings with lively brushwork, as shown in this painting.
