A Dutch burr-walnut longcase clock
First half 18th century
The hood with broken pediment and later turned finial, pierced architrave and sides, the glazed door flanked by two fluted pilasters, the case partly oyster veneered, the brass dial with cast corner spandrels, silvered cypher ring with blackened Roman numerals, signed A.Oldenzijl Haarlem, a subsidiary dial with seconds indication, aperture for day, date and month and a matted centre, the movement with eight day going train, lever escapement, with full and half hour strike on two chimes.
