This wooden sculpture was part of the Hoogendijk Collection, founded by Cornelis Hoogendijk. As an important collector of modern art, he also became the patron of Charley Toorop (1891-1955), who used this statue as the subject for one of her still lifes. This painting, titled Christ, Snow and Winter Branches belongs to the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
