Cornelis (Kees) Bol was born on 21 September 1916 in Oestgeest and was a Dutch painter and draftsman. During the Great Depression Bol moved from Oegstgeest to Eindhoven. After working in industry (including a position at Philips), Bol started his training as an artist in 1946 at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He was a pupil of, amongst others, Paul Citroen. Besides his activities as a painter and draftsman he also was a tutor at the academy where he was trained from 1963 up to 1972 and from 1951 up to 1972 at the Academy of industrial Design in Eindhoven.
Bol was married in 1941 to Toos van 't Hof. They had two children, Henri (1945-2000) and Peter (1947), who also both opted to be artists. After the Second World War he settled in Northern-Brabant as an artist where he lived in Eindhoven up to 1970, and afterwards in Heusden where he died on September 16, 2009. In 1950 he was awarded the Thérèse van Duyl-Schwartze award. Bol made portraits, still lifes and especially landscapes. Works by Bol were exhibited regularly, including in the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, De Lakenhal Museum in Leiden, the Noordbrabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Stadsgalerie in Woudrichem, in the Museum De Wieger in Deurne and various Art galleries.
