Hulk sr. was not only a deserving painter, but also owned a shop where he sold painting and drawing equipment and requisites. The shop, called 'De Rembrandt', was situated on the Amsterdam Rokin. Hulk sr. was a pioneer of his time and together with his partner Pieter Vlaanderen opened a photo studio on the Rokin and later also in Rotterdam.
