Note:
In the year 1835, Johannes Bosboom embarked on a study trip to the German Rhine provinces, accompanied by his colleague and friend from The Hague, Salomon Leonardus Verveer (1813-1876). They traveled through Utrecht and Arnhem, passing Düsseldorf and Cologne, until they reached Koblenz as their final destination. For both artists, this journey posed an artistic challenge as it exposed them to foreign architecture, regional attire, and landscapes beyond the borders of their own country. This painting by Bosboom showcased here serves as a representative example of their exploratory voyage.
