Menhirs and dolmens are typical features of landscape of Brittany and have a rich history. Especially in the area of Carnac many of these dot the landscape. The menhirs (standing stones) and dolmen (a number of standing stones, covered by a horizontal capstone) are often placed in long rows. Some menhirs have a height of seven meters and a weight of over 300 tons.
