A 'Palissy Ware' majolica tureen with lid
Designed by Léon Arnoux (1816 – 1902), executed by Mintons & Co, England, Stoke-on-Trent in 1874
The polychrome painted and glazed earthenware tureen executed as oval reed basket with oak leafs, the lid decorated in relief with a hare, a duck and a moorhen, the interior with light-blue glaze. Marked with impressed stamps Minton's 899.6 and an arrow for 1874, painted on the lid 20.

For an identical tureen dated 1866 see Victoria & Albert Museum, London, inv. no. C80-1971. Minton's majolica was introduced during the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.
