An English table clock
Circa 1755, signed Chater & Son London
Silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, matted dial, in the bezel a small dial with indication Chime/Silent, four brass pinacles and handle, the movement with engraved wallplate, chime on eight bells, double barrel, mahogany veneered case, verge escapement. Winding key and two smaller keys.

NB:
James Chater died in 1762. His son Eliezer was a member of the clockmakers guild from 1751 up to 1777, James jr. between 1753 and 1785.
