If you would like to bid in person in the saleroom during the auction you are obliged to use a bidding number which will be handed to you after registering. You can register to bid at our reception desk until the start of the auction. To register you will have to provide your personal data and bank details which will be checked. Bidding is possible by raising your hand after the auctioneer has announced the lot.
If you are unable to attend the auction in person, you may submit an absentee (‘commission’) bid. The required form is available at our reception desk on the viewing days and is also printed in the back of each sale catalogue. As is the case with registering as a bidder you will have to provide your personal data and bank details and submit your maximum bid. When a commission bid has been placed, the auctioneer will act on behalf of the bidder and will attempt to acquire the lot at the lowest possible price.
It is also possible to bid by phone during the auction. A member of the auction house staff will phone you on the telephone number provided by you shortly before the lot is due to be sold. The staff member will then relay your bids to the auctioneer.
Bidding can also be arranged via the auction house website. Please register your personal account on the AAG website. This account will enable you to leave a maximum bid on a lot number which has your interest. You will receive an email from us with a confirmation of your bid. The auctioneer will act on behalf of the bidder and will attempt to acquire the lot at the lowest possible price.
In addition we also provide the opportunity to bid live at the auction via the internet. Be sure to register on the live bidding page of the auction house website at least two hours before the start of the auction. Subsequently you can see the auction live on the internet and participate directly as a bidder. The charge for participating as an internet bidder is an additional 5% excluding VAT.
